Samsung  Launches Industry's First 1TB SSD Drive

Samsung Electronics has launched the 840 EVO mSATA – an industry’s first mini-Serial ATA Solid State Drive that is capable of storage capacities of up to 1 Terabyte.

The 1TB 840 EVO mSATA was made possible by using four flash memory packages, each having 16 layers of 128 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash memory. It offers 98,000 random read and 90,000 random write IOPS (Input Output Operations Per Second), as well as sequential read and write speed of 540 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 520 MB/s. In addition, it is only 3.85mm thick and weighs in at 8.5g.

The 840 EVO mSATA SSD line-up is available in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities and will be available globally starting this month.
